Plants reaching near normalcy

Gurgaon, India: Apollo Tyres’ manufacturing facilities in Kerala -- in Perambra and Kalamassery -- is now nearing normalcy. The production operations in the two plants were affected as the employees couldn’t reach due to heavy floods in the state.

There is no damage to equipment or property, and all the employees of the company are safe and secure. The production loss due to this natural calamity is 3000 metric tonnes approximately. However, consequential loss of profit is not significant.

The production loss due to natural calamity is adequately covered under the Insurance Policy of the Company. The company is in the process of assessing the exact quantum of loss, and the same will be claimed from the insurance company in due course.

The company, in its efforts towards re-building Kerala, has sent 4 truck-loads of cleaning kits (comprising disinfectants, detergents, scrubbers, rodent killers, etc and first aid kits. It has also engaged with relevant agencies for waste removal from affected houses, and for their safe disposal.  The company has deployed two mobile healthcare vans in Kochi, which along with a team of doctors and paramedics, and with adequate supply of medicines, is attending to the immediate healthcare needs in the nearby areas/villages. This is in addition to the company’s direct monetary contribution to the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
